magnetic and electric fields

I remember over 20 years ago I was planning to buy a condominium. I had a magnetic field meter. I went to a dozen or so condominium’s and measured the strength of the field in the bedroom and living room with a meter. A good reading is one or under, but I found readings from 3 to 5. The electric meters for each unit was situated outside either the bedroom or living room. I also went to an apartment building which had power transmission lines down the street. The magnetic field traveled well beyond the building. The bottom line is the only way to not be exposed to these fields is distance. The only way to protect against magnetic fields at the time was iron plates which were not feasible. I believe the same applies today. At that time electric field meters were over a thousand dollars. Now I believe for $400 to $500 you can get an combo electric and magnetic field meter. The magnetic field travels much further than the electric field. For over head power lines the electric field is still strong some distance from it.
